Job Title: Staff Accountant/Project Analyst

Reports to: CFO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Project Analyst to join our finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting project cost controls, cash flows management, financial reviews, reconciliations, and other accounting tasks crucial to the success of our projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and be adept at communicating with cross-functional teams and management at all levels.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Project Cost Controls: Monitor project budgets, expenses, and forecasts to ensure adherence to financial plans and identify any variances or potential risks. Review project costs ensuring proper categorization and allocation to specific projects and cost centers.
  • Cash Flows Management: Maintain accurate cash flow projections, analyze cash inflows and outflows, and collaborate with project managers to optimize cash management strategies.
  • Financial Reviews: Conduct regular financial reviews and analyses to assess project performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of project-and company related accounts, including bank reconciliations, vendor statements, and intercompany transactions.
  • Joint Venture Accounting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with project managers and fellow team members to ensure timely and accurate reporting, resolve accounting issues, and provide financial support as needed.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance controls, and improve efficiency in project accounting operations.

Non-Essential Qualification that would be considered a plus:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Del-Tek Costpoint, QuickBooks).
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to review financial data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative, drive process improvements, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with project and/or federal accounting requirements.
  • Experience with State sales tax, licensing, and registrations
