Location: Francis E. Warren AFB – Cheyenne, WY
Client: USACE, Omaha District
Bhate competitively won this performance-based, firm-fixed price contract to fill previously existing data gaps at three Former Atlas “D” Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Sites at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY. The primary project objective was to provide further delineation of soil and groundwater impacts for the purpose of moving each site closer to Site Closure (SC) status.
Atlas Site #4 possessed a TCE groundwater plume over 10 miles long, occurring in complex geological formations at depths greater than 300 feet. This condition required the City of Cheyenne to treat the municipal drinking water supply. To meet project objectives, Bhate provided drilling, geophysical, hydrophysical, surveying, and site reclamation services. Over 5,100 feet of large bore Roto-Sonic drilling was performed in the geologically formidable Ogallala Formation and underlying White River Formation to aid delineation efforts
