Bhate has been involved with the demolition of 6,513,081 square feet of excess Government property. TOs included multiple, concurrent investigation, abatement, demolition, implosion, recycling, and restoration projects located at multiple military bases throughout the US.

  • Ft. Myer, VA apartment building: Abatement, investigation, implosion and recycling: Abated, imploded and recycled a 13 story, 150,449 square foot apartment building constructed of cast-in-place reinforced concrete with brick veneer. This was the first implosion of a building on an active Army installation. In addition to shaving approximately 4-5 weeks off the schedule, we saved the Government $100,000 over conventional demolition methods. More than 92% of the building was diverted from the landfill, including sheetrock. The installation commander commented that this was the best Corps project they had been involved with at Ft. Myer.
  • Radford Army Ammunition Plant, VA: Abatement, demolition, residual explosives and recycling. Bhate conducted asbestos and explosive survey investigations. The SIR was used to develop work/asbestos abatement plans to demolish 13 structures at this active, Government-owned, contractor-operated facility specializing in the manufacture and testing of propellants. Our innovative sampling approach resulted in a 35% savings over conventional sampling. We achieved over 86% waste stream diversion through recycling.
  • Multiple locations, NWRO installation work: Demolition and abatement of multiple buildings comprising over 390,670 square feet at 5 MWRO installations including Ft. Riley, Kansas: demolished 12 structures/28,180 square feet, of industrial and paddock area; and Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, MO: two-phase project that demolished a 209,441 square foot manufacturing facility, processing and recycling over 2,500 tons of process machinery; and clearing 32 storage and production buildings, returning over 18 acres to grassy fields.
  • Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, buildings associated with Aberdeen Chemical Demilitarization Facility: work extended to two parking areas and four Osprey huts.
