Bhate, as Prime contractor, self-performed the demolition of 64 structures (approximately 87,000 SF) which were all located near active operational and production areas. The demolition effort consisted of buildings and structures associated with two former ammunition production lines. Bhate conducted initial UXO inspections to confirm buildings were safe for demolition and no munitions constituents were remaining in the structures. Building demolition consisted of multiple structure types including: concrete buildings, ammunition bunkers, steel, and wood. Approximately 63% of the waste stream (~4,500 tons of concrete and steel) was recycled, resulting in roughly $98,000 in savings to the government.
